Islamic Monotheism

The central message of Islam is to call all people to believe in the oneness of Allah (Tawheed) and to worship Him alone without associating any partners with Him. Every prophet sent by Allah conveyed this same message, inviting humanity to recognize their Creator and devote all acts of worship exclusively to Him.

What Is Islamic Monotheism?

01

Islamic monotheism, or Tawheed, is the belief that Allah is One and Unique in every aspect of His existence. It means affirming His absolute oneness in three fundamental areas:

02

1. Tawheed ar-Ruboobiyyah (Oneness of Lordship)

03

This is the belief that Allah alone is the Creator, Owner, Sustainer, and Controller of the universe. Everything that exists was created by Him, depends on Him, and operates according to His will.

2. Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah (Oneness of Worship)

This means that Allah alone deserves to be worshipped. Every act of worship—such as prayer, supplication, fasting, sacrifice, reliance, hope, and fear—must be directed solely to Him. Worshipping anyone or anything besides Allah contradicts the essence of Tawheed.

3. Tawheed al-Asmaa' wa as-Sifaat (Oneness of Allah's Names and Attributes)

“

This is the belief that Allah possesses the most perfect names and attributes as described in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah. His names and attributes are unique and incomparable, and nothing in creation resembles Him in His perfection.

Conclusion

Tawheed is the foundation of Islam and the key to a correct relationship with Allah. It affirms that He alone is the Creator, the only One worthy of worship, and the One whose perfect names and attributes are beyond comparison. Every aspect of a Muslim's faith and worship is built upon this fundamental belief.
